Choosing to get vaccinated each year is the best way you can protect yourself against influenza1

  • The NIP is a government initiative that aims to increase immunisation against vaccine-preventable diseases.1
  • The program provides free vaccines to protect eligible people against a range of diseases, including influenza.1
  • If you are not eligible for a free vaccine, you have flu vaccine options. Talk to your healthcare professional about protecting yourself, and which flu vaccine is right for you.1

If you or someone in your family is in one of the high-risk groups listed below, you or they may be eligible to receive a flu vaccination under the NIP.1

  • Children aged 6 months to less than 5 years
  • People with eligible medical conditions, aged 5 to 65 years
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Pregnant women
  • Adults aged 65 years and over

You should discuss any medical conditions you (or those you care for) have with your healthcare professional, so they can help assess your NIP eligibility.
