Each year in Australia flu causes an estimated: - 1,500,000 lost work days
- 300,000 doctor visits

FLU IS HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS- You can pass flu on before you know you’ve got it.
- One sneeze can spread the flu up to a metre.
THE SIMPLE FACTS ABOUT FLU- You cannot get flu from the vaccine – it does not contain any live virus.
- It doesn’t matter how fit or healthy you are – you are still at risk of getting the flu.
- ‘Natural Immunity’ is no guarantee – the flu virus is changing all the time. There is no guarantee that your body will have built up immunity to the coming strains of flu.
- Vitamins don’t stop flu – it is not proven that vitamin C or echinacea reduce your risk of getting flu. Antibiotics do not work against viruses like influenza.
- Get vaccinated every year – the vaccine is a safe and effective way to reduce your risk of flu.
